My final character line up for my russian Beauty and the Beast redesign, entitled “ The Scarlet Flower”
The key scene where the Merchant plucks one of Beast’s precious scarlet flowers, as a gift for Nastenka, his beloved youngest daughter. Unbeknownst to him, his actions are about to have grave consequence.
The Beast gave the Merchant an enchanted ring that is to transport him back the castle for punishment after he says his goodbyes to his daughters. Nastenka, being the most selfless of the three, stole the ring and went to the palace in her father’s place. Expecting imminent death and a frightening abode, she arrives in shock and marvels at the beautiful, yet empty palace interior as Beast watches from the shadows.
Forest wolves have begun their hunt as the lost Merchant discovers salvation in the distance; a mysterious, resplendent palace.
The scene where the Merchant discovers an opulent feast in the palace he wandered into for shelter after having gotten lost in the Russian woodland. The table is set for one, despite the multitude of food. He resists for while, awaiting the owner of the estate to greet him, but no one comes. He finally succumbs to his hunger and indulges in the graciousness of Beast’s hospitality.
